Priyadarshini Degree College is one of the very few colleges to have started an undergraduate course in Biotechnology in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It is a relatively new and fast-developing field that integrates knowledge from several traditional sciences: Biochemistry, Chemistry, Genetics, and Microbiology. For this reason, an initiative was taken to have faculty members from various disciplines in the department. Faculty members having specializations in Genetics, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Animal sciences & Microbiology integrating all the disciplines to teach Biotech curriculum, teach the curriculum. The Department rests on a strong system having an application-oriented approach utilizing the infrastructure to learn techniques as well as doing inhouse projects in the laboratory. The course is offered with Biochemistry and Chemistry, the two most important subjects vital to the understanding of Biotechnology.
